Exhaust Tips  

There are many different types of EXHAUST TIPS available for any car. Some of the most common are chrome and stainless tips. Chrome tips are metal tips that have been electroplated with chromium and have an extremely shiny finish. A variation of chrome is black chrome, which has a dark, smoky look. If you are looking for something less flashy, there are also aluminum tips that come in a variety of finishes including brushed, which tones down the shine. There are also tips made from carbon fiber and ones that have been powder coated for a more durable finish. Choose a look that complements the look and year of your vehicle. For instance a carbon fiber tip would look silly on a vintage sports car but would work on a tuned Honda.
A properly functioning EXHAUST system is critical to flight safety, if not, the following may occur fire, loss of engine performance. You examine surfaces next to the exhaust system for signs of exhaust soot. Do not forget to examine the exhaust components for red, black or gray stains around welds, clamps and flanges.
Check connections for proper fit. Metal Fatigue- Inspect all surfaces for bulges, distortions, and cracks. Examine bends in pipes for pitting and thinning of material.
Damaged or missing heat studs, fins or other heat sink material can cause uneven heating of the muffler surface and lead to holes in the muffler can. Baffles- look to see if the muffler has internal baffles or tubes. If they are damaged or missing replace the muffler. Broken baffles may become dislodged and restrict the outlet and cause power loss. Internal damage- carefully inspect internal components for wear, pitting, cracks, broken baffles, corrosion may be occurring on a component that looks good externally.
